No Birthday Card on Birthday?

Salam and hi all,

When I was small, I would buy card for my friends on their birthdays. If he or she is special, I would buy a card with music and that is how I celebrated my friends' birthdays and showed them how much I cared and loved them. Sadly today, we no longer could see birthday cards on birthday. With the technology developed, we can just call, SMS or even post on someone's wall on Facebook.

With the technology improving, we rarely use conventional methods especially writing letter and sending birthday card. I still remember when I taught my students informal letter writing and to be frank, I was sad looking at them as they did not know the format of an informal letter and they admitted that they never wrote to their parents and friends. They could just call, SMS or email. Thanks to technology for making our life easier!

Looking at this kind of situation, I can just say 'pity them' as kids nowadays have lost a lot of satisfaction and excitement writing a letter and sending a birthday card. I still can remember when I was in boarding school 11 years ago, I always wrote letter to my mom and I would put talcum powder to make my letter smell nice. I always drew pictures for her and I loved decorating my letter before sending it to her. Then, to contact with my boyfriends (huhuhu), the same method was used which is sending letters; secret letters. Hahaha!

In conclusion, the kids now, the new generation now, should try once in a while writing letters and sending birthday card to their loved ones. I am grateful that we still teach informal letter writing at school and not e-mail writing! Till then, sometimes, conventional method is worth to try because we still have to look back to improve ourselves! Thank You.
